Books of 30 Kazakhstan’s writers to be translated into Spanish
Talks with potential participants of the project for translating, publishing and promotion of the collection of the Kazakh literature into the Spanish language were completed in Madrid, Spain, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
The strategic partner of this Kazakhstani initiative realized in frames of Rukhani Zhangyru program is the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and Instituto Cervantes became a consultant of the project. Visor -Libros defined as the publishing house.
Translation of the collection of samples of modern Kazakh literature into six languages of the UN is realized within the framework of Modern Kazakhstan culture in the global world project. In its turn, this project is a part of Rukhani Zhangyru program initiated by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The project’s goal is to present to the world today the achievements of our literature, music and visual arts, choreography, cinema and theater for the years of independence.
Anthology of modern Kazakh poetry and Anthology of modern Kazakh prose will be translated in to Spanish. The volume of the each one is five hundred pages. Every anthology includes works by 30 Kazakhstan’s writers. The structure and content were approved during the special session of Kazakhstan’s Writers Union.
It should be noted the relevant memorandum was signed by Secretary of the national commission for the implementation Rukhani Zhangyru program Aida Balaeva and Visor Libros publishing house president Jesus Garcia Sanchez at the Kazakh Embassy in Madrid.
«Visor-Libros» is a specialized publishing house, working with foreign literature. The editorial board of the publishing house has many years of experience in translating, printing and promoting poets and writers who represent the culture of more than 10 countries. Visor-Libros, being the recognized publisher of Spain, is also widely known in Latin America and the Hispanic population of North America. In the framework of cooperation with Kazakhstan, the publishing house will participate in the distribution of anthologies of Kazakh literature outside of Spain. As you know, Spanish is native to the population not only of Spain but also of 18 other Latin American countries, as well as a number of other countries, together comprising about 600 million people.
«The most important thing for us is to ensure the high quality of the translation, which will reach the hearts of the Spanish readers. The joint work of our creative teams should serve as a bridge for further convergence of the Kazakh and Spanish culture, strengthening relations between our countries» Aida Balaeva stated at a meeting with the Spanish publisher.
In turn, the president of Visor-Libros publishing house Jesús García Sánchez stressed that it is an honor for him to be a part of such an undertaking, as it is not a political or commercial project, but an important cultural initiative.
